At the recent vivo Developer Conference, the company officially unveiled a comprehensive upgrade to its self-developed Blue Heart large model matrix, OriginOS 5, and BlueOS 2. The newly launched vivo X200 standard edition, featuring OriginOS 5, was also showcased. On October 14, this new flagship smartphone made its debut at the National Aquatic Center (Water Cube). As a major entry in the domestic flagship series, the vivo X200 series introduces an impressive combination of four upgraded vivo Blue Technologies, promising a powerful and versatile annual flagship phone.
vivo launched three products: the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro Mini. Both the X200 and X200 Pro will be available in four color options: Gem Blue, Titanium Color, White Moonlight, and Midnight Black, with sales starting on October 19. The X200 is priced starting from 4,299 yuan, while the X200 Pro begins at 5,299 yuan. The X200 Pro Mini, with its vibrant colors including Titanium Green, Dusty Pink, Simple White, and Pure Black, will be released on October 25, starting at 4,699 yuan.
Since the debut of its “Blue Technology” tech brand in 2023, vivo has built a complete matrix encompassing five modules: Blue Crystal chip technology stack, Blueprint Imaging, Blue Sea battery system, Blue Heart large model, and Blue River operating system. This technology matrix continuously evolves in response to real user needs, establishing a solid technological foundation for vivo’s flagship products.
With the full upgrade of vivo’s Blue Technology in 2024, the newly integrated Blue Technology showcases the annual flagship phone, the X200 series, with impressive features. The X200 Pro features the same Zeiss 200MP APO super telephoto lens and has enhanced image quality algorithms developed in-house. The new generation imaging sensor, Blueprint x Sony LYT-818, a collaboration between vivo and Sony, enables significant advancements in mobile imaging capabilities. Additionally, vivo has partnered with Arm to establish a joint laboratory, working alongside MediaTek to define the next-generation 3nm Dimensity 9400 chip, enhancing performance. Furthermore, the X200 series introduces world-first kilometer-level offline communication, developed with Zeiss for leading screen display and eye-care experiences, and employs third-generation silicon anode battery technology. The revamped OriginOS 5 aims to deliver a more personalized smart experience, achieving breakthroughs in performance, communication, display, battery life, and AI functionalities.
During the launch event, Will Abbey, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer of Arm, along with Xue Jingquan, Senior Vice President of MediaTek, joined vivo’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Hu Baishan to unveil the X200 series, marking a robust collaboration that sets a new standard for performance flagship smartphones.
The X200 series features the Zeiss Master Color Screen, supported by a full link of Zeiss natural color technology, delivering industry-leading display accuracy and realism. Additionally, the series features kilometer-level offline communication technology developed collaboratively by vivo and MediaTek, allowing point-to-point communication in extreme environments without cellular networks through Bluetooth. This feature supports SOS text broadcasting, one-on-one voice intercom and text communication, and map location display—highly valuable for scenarios like field research and disaster rescue.
The X200 series is the first to be equipped with OriginOS 5, which revolves around AI innovations, introducing new features such as Atom Island and Xiao V Circle Search. Designed with a deeper understanding of local needs, AI capabilities include Xiao V’s assistance in note-taking and writing, along with efficiency tools like Universal Document and Xiao V Cross-Platform. The upgraded Blue Sea battery system, featuring third-generation silicon anode technology, achieves new heights in energy density and longevity.
At the event, vivo also launched the 2025 vivo Imaging and Mobile Photography Competition in collaboration with Zeiss. This new competition builds upon past categories such as portrait, landscape, night, action, series, and macro photography, with a special upgrade to long-focus and macro submission categories to explore more possibilities in long-focus imaging. Furthermore, to support student creators, vivo has introduced a Student Photographer Award and is establishing a vivo College Photography Alliance with major university photography clubs, encouraging young talents to capture and share their stories through the lens. The 2025 vivo Imaging and Mobile Photography Competition is now open for submissions and will close on May 14, 2025.
