On October 22, reports from ABC Australia and 9 News revealed that a small plane crashed near an airport in southwestern Melbourne, resulting in the death of a man.
The incident occurred around 11:20 AM, shortly after the Cessna 150 took off from Bacchus Marsh Airport, renowned for its flight school and gliding club. The pilot was killed on impact, though his identity has yet to be officially confirmed.
This marks the second plane crash in Victoria in just six weeks; a previous accident on September 13 also claimed a man’s life.
Following the crash, police, firefighters, and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue efforts and investigate the incident. Access to the airport has since been closed off, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
