Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, recently inaugurated three significant road projects in Bauchi State, urging local residents to support Governor Bala Mohammed in propelling the state toward even greater achievements.

During the inauguration ceremony, Obasanjo praised Governor Mohammed for his efforts in advancing the state’s development. He emphasized that the governor’s transformative infrastructure initiatives serve as a model for other leaders to follow.

“I’ve witnessed the impact of your work for the people of Bauchi in such a short time,” Obasanjo remarked. “You’ve made remarkable progress, and from what I’ve seen, you’re building a legacy that will endure. Today, as we inaugurate these dualized roads out of the 121 that you have initiated, it’s clear that your vision is taking shape.”

The former president highlighted the significance of the newly dualized roads: the 7-kilometer Awalah-Maiduguri Road, the 17.7-kilometer Awalah-Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Road, and the 30-kilometer Gubi-Gari Rudu Bida-Siyi-Nasarawa Link Road, noting that these projects will provide immense benefits to the citizens.

“We’re not just opening roads; we’re creating new opportunities for development,” he stated. According to Obasanjo, these roads are set to enhance transportation, boost trade and commerce, and create much-needed jobs. They will also simplify access for residents and farmers to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.

Expressing his admiration for the governor and his cabinet, Obasanjo commended the contractors for their timely execution of the projects. “I want to acknowledge Governor Bala Mohammed for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to developing Bauchi State. You’ve recognized and built upon the foundation laid by your predecessor, and that’s how progress should be made—through cumulative effort,” he emphasized.

Obasanjo pointed out that the people of Bauchi are fortunate to have Bala Mohammed as their leader and encouraged citizens to rally behind him to elevate the state further. “We’ve seen leaders who fall short of their potential; we urge you to aim for greater heights,” he implored.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to the former president for honoring his invitation to the commissioning ceremony. “These projects exemplify our steadfast commitment to improving connectivity and infrastructure across Bauchi State,” he declared.

The governor further noted that in addition to constructing over 1,000 roads, his administration is making significant strides in education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and security. “Our focus remains on sustained growth and continuously enhancing the well-being of the people of Bauchi,” he concluded.
