On October 19, the National Energy Administration of China released electricity consumption data for September via their official WeChat account.
According to the report, the total electricity consumption for September reached 847.5 billion kilowatt-hours, marking an 8.5% increase compared to the previous year. Breaking it down by industry, the primary industry consumed 12.1 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 6.4%. The secondary industry accounted for 537.9 billion kilowatt-hours, reflecting a 3.6% rise. The tertiary industry saw a notable increase, consuming 165.2 billion kilowatt-hours, which is up by 12.7%. Additionally, electricity consumption by urban and rural residents was 132.3 billion kilowatt-hours, soaring by 27.8%.
From January to September, total electricity consumption hit 7,409.4 billion kilowatt-hours, showing a year-on-year growth of 7.9%. Notably, the power generation from large-scale industries reached 7,056 billion kilowatt-hours. In terms of individual industry sectors for the first nine months, the primary sector consumed 103.5 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 6.9%. The secondary sector recorded 47,385 billion kilowatt-hours, a 5.9% increase, while the tertiary sector experienced an 11.2% rise with 13,953 billion kilowatt-hours. Urban and rural household electricity use climbed by 12.6%, totaling 1,172.1 billion kilowatt-hours.
