On October 11, during an event in Beijing, Chinese synchronized swimming champion Feng Yu shared her insights on representing the country at international competitions, stating, “We will tell the story of China and showcase Chinese culture through carefully designed choreography.”
Feng Yu participated in the “Chinese Sports Spirit Lecture” at the Xian Nong Tan Sports Field, where she served as a special “sports teacher” interacting closely with students from Beijing Huiwen Middle School, who were hosting their school sports meeting. Drawing from her own growth journey, she encouraged the students to be pioneers and strive for excellence.
In her talk, Feng shared her personal journey in synchronized swimming, starting from when she began sports at the age of four, joining the national team in 2017, and ultimately standing on the top podium at the Paris Olympics. Each step represented countless hours of hard work and determination, stating, “For that gold medal, my teammates and I spent more time in the water than we did sleeping, and our hair was always wet.”
Feng emphasized that facing challenges and overcoming difficulties are just parts of the path to success. What truly makes the Chinese synchronized swimming team shine on the Olympic stage is their teamwork and camaraderie. She highlighted that during training, if one member fell short of expectations, the entire team would practice together, motivating one another rather than placing blame. The themes of unity and synergy were messages she was eager to share with the students.
Encouraging young people to bravely tackle challenges in their studies and lives, Feng remarked, “Every individual’s future is filled with infinite possibilities.” Her dedication to excellence and profound interpretation of the Chinese sports spirit resonated with both students and teachers present.
Later in the “Champion Sports Class” segment, Feng Yu fired the starting gun for the 100-meter race during the school sports meeting. Expressing her joy at participating in the event, she felt the enthusiasm and vitality of the students and aimed to pass on the spirit of perseverance and teamwork that embodies Chinese sports. The students at Beijing Huiwen Middle School expressed their intention to take Feng as a role model, striving to emulate her fighting spirit and work hard to realize their dreams.
The “Chinese Sports Spirit Lecture” and the “Champion Sports Class” event at Beijing Huiwen Middle School were hosted by the General Administration of Sport of China and organized by the China Sports Media Group and Beijing Huiwen Middle School, with support from China Sports News and New Sports Network.
