**Interviewer:** Can you provide us with a general weather forecast for the next ten days?
**Weather Expert:** Sure! We’re expecting some influence from cold air over the next ten days, but it won’t be very strong. Overall, temperatures across the country will be near or above the average for this time of year.
**Interviewer:** What about rainfall predictions during this period?
**Weather Expert:** There’s an anticipated increase in rainfall for areas like southeastern Qinghai, eastern Tibet, Sichuan, Chongqing, northern Yunnan, western Guizhou, and western Hunan. Many of these regions could see rain for six to eight days over the next ten days, with some places likely to experience rainfall totals one to three times higher than normal.
**Interviewer:** Let’s discuss the temperature forecasts. What do you foresee?
**Weather Expert:** Starting on the 11th, we’ll see a notable increase in temperatures across the country. Currently, cold air is moving southward, leading to significant temperature drops of 6 to 12 degrees Celsius in regions like Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Anhui.
Beginning tomorrow, a new wave of weak cold air will reach northern areas, and between the 8th and the 10th, we expect temperatures in northwestern and northeastern China to fall by 3 to 6 degrees Celsius, coupled with moderate north winds.
However, this cold air’s impact will be limited and mostly felt in the north. As we approach the 11th, we’ll see gradual warming in most regions. By the 11th and 12th, the highest temperatures will rebound in the northeast, with southern North China and the Huaihe region climbing above 25 degrees Celsius. For instance, Changchun could hit 23 degrees on the 13th, and cities like Jinan, Zhengzhou, and Shijiazhuang are expected to warm up to around 25 degrees.
**Interviewer:** What’s happening in the warmer southern regions?
**Weather Expert:** The warmth will be quite pronounced in the south, particularly around the 11th and 12th, when areas in Jiangnan could see maximum temperatures exceed 30 degrees Celsius. In Wuhan, for example, the temperature will jump from today’s high of 20 degrees to about 29 degrees in just a couple of days—an increase of 9 degrees.
**Interviewer:** Can you elaborate on the rainfall situation in the upcoming days?
**Weather Expert:** Rainfall will decrease in areas like Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Fujian over the next three days, leading to mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions. However, in regions such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Guizhou, eastern Tibet, western Hunan, southern Hubei, and Hainan, we expect frequent and significant rainfall over the next ten days. Particularly in southwestern regions, such as southern Sichuan and western Guizhou, some areas may see cumulative rainfall exceeding 150 millimeters—substantially more than what’s typical for this time of year.
Since the beginning of October, southwestern regions have experienced significantly higher rainfall, especially in southeastern Tibet and northwestern Yunnan, where some localities have reported rainfall amounts more than double the norm. This pattern of frequent rainfall is expected to continue, increasing the risk of geological hazards in certain areas, so caution is warranted.
