On October 19, the Mango Space Open Day event took place at Xiamen University Malaysia. The ceremony marked the launch of both Mango Space and the Mango Media MCN.

In attendance were Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Communications, Zharina Zainal Abidin; Zhao Changtao, Education Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia; Li Taikang, Deputy Director of the Malaysia Tourism Board; Wang Ruifang, President of Xiamen University Malaysia; and Ge Yamei, Executive President of Mango Media Malaysia, who collectively inaugurated these two exciting initiatives.

Wang Ruifang and Ge Yamei signed a collaborative agreement, emphasizing the partnership between Xiamen University’s School of Media and Mango Media Malaysia. The Mango Space is an innovative open education program that integrates media education and industry collaboration. The newly launched MCN segment aims to provide incubation support for media professionals and creators, ensuring comprehensive services for Mango Space’s students.

Notably, popular Malaysian singer Sheila became the first signed channel creator under the Mango Media MCN on that day. With the backing of Mango Media, Sheila is not only establishing an official account on Chinese social media but also collaborating on promotional efforts for cultural and tourism products between China and Malaysia.

During the ceremony, Zharina expressed hopes that this partnership would promote high-quality self-media content, enhancing understanding of Malaysia’s culture and fostering broader collaboration across various sectors between Malaysia and China.

Li Taikang presented awards for “Outstanding New Media Creators” to eight bloggers from both Malaysia and China, encouraging them to continue leveraging new media to amplify Malaysia’s cultural and tourism voice.

The event was hosted by Mango Media Malaysia, in cooperation with Xiamen University Malaysia, and included panel discussions and specialized lectures featuring industry experts.
