The Wild Wolf Golf Club recently celebrated a thrilling achievement as they clinched the championship title and a prize of $6,400 in the second annual golf tournament, which partnered with a prominent Chinese liquor brand. The event drew a competitive field of 18 teams from various regions, including Canada, Chicago, and both Northern and Southern California, fostering exchange and camaraderie between golfers from China and the United States.
During the event, Xu Xusheng, president of the Wild Wolf Golf Club, noted a significant increase in participation this year, with the number of teams expanding from 12 to 18 across North America. He emphasized that the tournament aims to promote the growth of international golf in the U.S. and enhance the skill levels of amateur Chinese golfers. Sponsored by Langjiu, the tournament featured both individual and team competitions, allowing participants to showcase their skills while also emphasizing teamwork, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the contest. The rules adhered to those established by the United States Golf Association and involved a format of 18 holes of team play with stroke play scoring.
The final scores were based on the total strokes of eight players from each team over the 18 holes, with the team recording the lowest overall score declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the team with the lower score over the final nine holes would take the title, and if necessary, the last three holes would serve as the decisive factor. To encourage peak performance, the total prize money and awards exceeded $10,000.
The competition saw intense action among the participants, most of whom were amateur golfers yet displayed remarkable professionalism and sportsmanship. Teams included the Chicago Mustangs, Chicago CNGA, California 72 Golf Club, Collegiate Golf League, Lucky Dragon Team, Evergreen Team, Hangzhou Chamber of Commerce Team, American Happy Country Golf Club, California Sunshine Golf Club, Irvine Golf Society, Northern California NCCGA Team, Golden Eagle Team, Guangdong Golf Club, Los Angeles Elite College Team, Yellow Crane Team, and the Wild Wolf Golf Team.
