On October 25, China News reported that, according to AFP, Israel announced on the 24th that Mossad Director David Barnea is scheduled to travel to Qatar on the 27th to participate in discussions regarding a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
A senior Hamas official mentioned that a delegation from the organization met with Egyptian officials in Cairo on the 24th to discuss “ideas and proposals” related to the ceasefire in Gaza.
According to the report, the official stated, “Hamas has expressed a willingness to cease hostilities, but Israel must commit to a ceasefire, withdraw from the Gaza Strip, allow displaced individuals to return home, agree to a serious prisoner exchange deal, and permit humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.”
Reports also indicate that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu welcomed Egypt’s willingness to mediate the release of Israeli individuals still held by Hamas. Furthermore, Netanyahu has instructed Mossad Director Barnea to head to Qatar on the 27th to “advance a series of agendas.”
