At a press conference held by the Changchun Municipal Government on October 17, reporters learned that the 3rd World Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Conference and the 2024 Changchun International Medicine and Health Industry Expo will take place this December in Changchun.
The World Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Conference, organized by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, is a significant international event in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. It aims to promote innovative advancements in traditional medicine, create a high-level platform for international scientific cooperation, and showcase the latest achievements in the field. Previous conferences were held in Hangzhou and Fuzhou in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
This year’s event will have the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as a guiding unit and will be hosted by Changchun University of Chinese Medicine. The focus will be on leveraging Jilin Province and Changchun’s unique geographical, talent, industrial, and resource advantages. Special attention will be given to the scientific transformation and industrial development of local medicinal resources such as Korean ginseng and deer antler.
Yang Yonggang, Vice President of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, emphasized that the conference will cover various themes related to the global development of traditional Chinese medicine and the health industry, aligning closely with Jilin’s strategy to strengthen its pharmaceutical sector. He noted that the conference is expected to attract more pharmaceutical companies and research institutions to Jilin Province and promote the integration of the pharmaceutical industry with health care, wellness tourism, and healthy food, ultimately leading to a cluster effect in industry development.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the 2024 Changchun International Medicine and Health Industry Expo is scheduled to be held from December 7 to 9 at the Northeast Asia International Expo Center. The expo will have the theme “Leading Health with New Qualities, Co-Creating the Future with Technology,” focusing on new technologies, products, models, and consumption trends in the domestic and international health industry. It will serve as a platform for “product display, parallel conferences, international exchange, investment promotion, industry integration, achievement transformation, and trade services.” The overall exhibition area is planned at approximately 50,000 square meters, with around 600 participating companies.
Chen Dezh, President of the Changchun Council for the Promotion of International Trade, shared that the exhibition recruitment has already commenced, particularly targeting key pharmaceutical industrial regions and leading enterprises in China, as well as well-known local pharmaceutical companies. It is anticipated that over 60% of the participating companies will come from outside the region, with more than 30% being from Fortune 500 companies and key players in the domestic industry.
