In a recent interview with ABC News, Amanda Seyfried, the lead actress from the beloved musical film “Mamma Mia!”, shared some exciting news about the potential cast for the highly anticipated third installment. Seyfried mentioned that she has reached out to the incredibly talented Sabrina Carpenter, expressing her hopes to bring her on board.
The original “Mamma Mia!”, inspired by ABBA’s iconic songs, was a box office hit upon its release in 2008, grossing over $615 million and ranking fifth among that year’s highest-grossing films. As fans eagerly await news about the sequel, Seyfried addressed the current status of “Mamma Mia! 3.” She candidly remarked, “Everyone is saying ‘Mamma Mia! 3, let’s go baby,’ but I have to say, I haven’t seen a script yet.”
Seyfried is not only excited about reprising her role but is also keen on adding Carpenter to the mix. Currently, Carpenter is busy with her “Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet” concert tour, where she showcases her versatility by covering a variety of songs, including several classics from the “Mamma Mia!” soundtrack. She recently captivated audiences at Madison Square Garden on September 29 with her performances.
While the prospect of casting Carpenter as Seyfried’s on-screen daughter raises eyebrows due to their age difference—Seyfried, at 38, is 13 years older—Seyfried dismissed any concerns about this. She explained, “Technically, she can. And if they want me to wear aging makeup, I wouldn’t mind. I’m an actress; I would go along with it. If Sabrina wants to play my daughter, I would make that happen.” Seyfried also expressed her admiration for Carpenter’s work, highlighting her genuine enthusiasm for collaborating with the young star.
